Hello, I'm Sara
Hi, I’m Teacher Sara! I teach English as a Foreign Language, English Language Arts, and Mathematics to late elementary and middle school students. I also help students prepare for important exams. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and highly adaptive, and I work hard to meet each student exactly where they are.
I have been teaching and tutoring online for more than eight years, with over 7,000 hours of online teaching experience. In addition, I spent three years teaching in the classroom at SJdS International Day School in Nicaragua. There, I served as the lead English as a Foreign Language teacher for grades 6–8, as well as a teacher’s assistant and remedial math coach for grades 6–9.
In my role as an EFL teacher, I supported incoming Spanish-speaking students as they transitioned into an English-language classroom. I planned and taught differentiated small-group classes in English, language arts, and mathematics, helping students build confidence while strengthening their core academic skills. I especially enjoy working with individual students and small groups because this allows me to adapt lessons to each learner’s needs, goals, and learning style.
My Story
Over the years, I have taught students from around the world, including the United States, Canada, China, France, Morocco, and Nicaragua. I love teaching, and I also consider myself a lifelong learner. I am passionate about language as a tool for clear, confident, and expressive communication. I am a native English speaker, fluent in Spanish, and have been studying Mandarin Chinese for over three years. I can currently communicate at an HSK 3 level.
I believe it is important to help young students develop both strong academic skills and a love of learning. My lessons are informative, engaging, and carefully tailored to each student. I use a variety of curated materials to make classes clear, meaningful, and enjoyable. Students learn best when they feel supported, encouraged, and understood. My goal is not only to help students improve their English, writing, math, and test-taking skills, but also to help them become more confident, independent learners.
