Engaging World History Lessons
This course offers a sweeping overview of the history of the entire world from prehistoric times to the modern era, while at the same time encouraging students to improve their reading comprehension and critical-thinking skills. Starting in ancient Egypt and through through time and around the globe, we will pay special attention to the ways that differing environments influenced pre-historic and historic peoples: their cultural practices, their languages, their religious beliefs, their daily lives, their relationships with animals and plants, and the artifacts they made and left behind for us to discover.

This class uses Susan Wise Bauer's Story of the World series, along with supplementary materials appropriate to students' individual reading levels. Each book (there are four) focuses on a different period of world history. As such, there are three different semesters of this class; however, students may join in for any section of the overall course. Because this history course also aims to develop students' critical reading skills, ESL learners are very welcome to attend.

*Currently only available as a group class of 3-5 students.
Class duration is one hour.
This course is offered as a 16 class semester.
